Due to some exciting changes in our Systems Development Team we’ve created a new role to support us in our future projects. The Software Engineering Lead is responsible for the specification, building and maintenance of our Mortgages, Savings and Investment application platforms. This includes the integration and management across all application layers and integration into the wider Society’s information systems.
As a subject matter expert, a key responsibility of this role is to coach and mentor all Software Engineers (Development and Test) and Architects who will have a reporting line into a Professional Development Leader. Whilst the role will have a degree of ‘hands on’ architecture and engineering, the primary purpose of the role is to provide direction for the Software Engineering teams and Architects to ensure activity is aligned to the overall objectives of the Department.
This role is the primary contact within the Department where there are software delivery considerations, for example the Architecture Review Group and high-level solutions design assessments for strategic change initiatives. A good network of colleagues across the Society in particular, across the IT, Data, Digital and Architecture teams is critical to maintaining alignment of technical change initiatives across the Society.
This role is responsible for all s olutions design and oversight of all software assets, not limited to but including – Jade systems, Middleware, Web, Mobile, API’s & Robotics. The role is jointly responsible with the Application Architecture Leader for the information systems strategy within the Society, its execution and upkeep. Alongside architecture, the role will lead on cloud enablement for software and the migration of application services into cloud including designs, standards, patterns and practices.
In addition to the core responsibilities mentioned above, as a senior team member of Systems Development Department, the role is expected to provide direction and guidance on team matters and as a point of reference/expertise to peers, team members and other functions within the Society. To successfully fulfill the role, you require effective people and communication capabilities, a focus on service delivery and a good technical understanding.
