This is a fantastic opportunity to join West Lancashire College as a part time, term time Learning Support Worker, supporting learners on a range of courses and levels of provision, contributing to ensuring that excellent standards of support is achieved and maintained. Your working hours will be varied depending on learner enrolment.

You will work as a member of the curriculum team to deliver co-ordinated, integrated learning support, ensuring that students receive a high quality learning experience and achieve success. Your responsibilities will include:

  • To support the enrolment of learners as required
  • To assist lecturers in the classroom to implement planned programmes of study for learners who need learner and learning support
  • To assist the college in providing a healthy and safe environment for learners with learning support needs in the classroom and during meal breaks
  • To assist learners with learning support needs to undertake day to day activities (e.g. food, special dietary requirements, handling money, moving between College sites)
  • To work as part of a team providing cover for absent colleagues as required
  • To keep up to date on the latest development in the area of learner and learning support
  • To maintain student records to the required standard
  • To undertake appropriate staff development activity to develop the role of Learning Support Assistant
  • To provide exam support such as invigilation, reading, scribing as required

    The post holder will undertake evening classes and attend ‘out of hours’ events and training opportunities as required.
