The Employment & Skills Service is part of Coventry City Council.  We work with a range of delivery partners to provide a wide portfolio of top quality support to Coventry residents of all ages who are looking for work.  We work with partners across the city and our Employer Hub actively works with local employers to generate opportunities for local people. 

Our friendly and welcoming Job Shop is situated in Coventry City Centre. We are here to support all Coventry residents to search for employment, training, apprenticeships and work placements.  People can explore a wide range of local vacancies that are updated daily and access training opportunities.  

We also provide ground-breaking specialist support for local residents who face multiple and sometimes complex barriers that make it hard for them to find a job.  The Job Shop and our exciting range of specialist employment support programmes are among the very best support available in the UK 

What is the job role?

Supported by the European Social Fund 2014-2020

As a Project Assistant you will support the development and implementation of regeneration strategies, policies and projects in relation to skills, training, and employer placements on behalf of the Employment Team.

Duties and responsibilities will be to:

  • Assist in the effective day-to-day running of the Team’s projects
  • Deal with queries, answer calls, book appointments, arrange and minute meetings
  • Diary management support and database maintenance
  • Support with the Claims process
  • Support the data capture needs of officers and ensure audit trails are secure
  • Assist with researching and developing new project bids for submission to funding bodies
  • Support the efficient operation of monitoring and evaluation systems for the team
  • Assist in the monitoring, analysis, and evaluation of the performance of the main activities of the team, particularly in relation to outputs and outcomes of the team’s contribution to the Jobs Strategy.

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have a” can do” and solution-focused approach
  • Ability to adhere to procedures and standards
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and using IT on a daily basis 
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving approach
  • Ability to inspire and motivate
  • Ability to communicate with a range of people in an appropriate way
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels, using various methods depending on the audience, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness
  • Able to produce information from IT systems in a clear format.
  • Good management of personal workload, including the ability to resolve conflicting priorities and time management to meet deadlines
