We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to join our established and friendly team. You will join us on a permanent contract working full time, 37.5 hours per week based at home. You will need to be able to work flexibly as the role will involve national travel to our services across England.

What will you be doing?

You will provide regular reporting information and advice to senior management to ensure the policy of Rethink Mental Illness takes all reasonable steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all staff, volunteers, people who use our services as well as contractors and all other persons who may be affected by our operations is maintained. You will also;

  • Carry out health and safety audits and work with services and heads of department where Red audits have been undertaken
  • Maintain the Sphera risk assessment database, providing and maintaining a series of risk assessment templates for services and teams to use.
  • Monitor the Sphera incident and accident database, providing information to the Integrated Governance & Oversight Group (IGOG) on reported accidents to staff, ensuring all RIDDOR reporting requirements are met. Provide support to managers on same.
  • Issue Health and Safety Bulletins when required to ensure service improvement and learning and to identify risk management themes.
  • Develop and maintain the health and safety policy and associated procedures and guidance documents
  • Maintain the health and safety induction e-learning modules, creating new content when necessary

Do you have what we are looking for?

  • Ability to challenge practice and the passion to drive H & S culture in a diverse environment
  • An effective and professional communicator
  • Grade Manager C Qualified to CMIOSH status Minimum of 3 years’ experience ideally in a care sector
  • Hold a NEBOSH H&S Diploma or equivalent
  • Evidence of a commitment to learning and professional development
