Here at Lyons Personnel we are looking for a Temporary Refuse Supervisor for our client based in Willand.
Hours: Monday to Friday – 09:00am – until finish and 05:15am – 13:15pm (On a Rotational shift)
Pay: TBC (Depending on Experience)
You will be responsible for the vehicle drivers and operatives on a daily basis. The key objective of your role will be to act as Supervisor of the Refuse Service to a high standard while maintaining all health and safety requirements.
Your day to day duties will involve the following
• The supervision and development of staff on a daily basis to achieve high performance and deliver a customer focused approach.
• To organise the staff rota ensuring sufficient operational levels are maintained.
• To recruit, manage, develop and review team members performance to ensure the delivery of an effective service
• To ensure that daily vehicle checks are carried out and the appropriate actions taken and deal with any urgent plant or vehicle issues to ensure safety of the crews and general public
• To organise and supervise any casual and agency staff where necessary.
• To supervise the dispatch of crew and vehicles on a daily basis.
• To drive both LGV and 7.5 tonne collection vehicles as required.
• To deal appropriately with any missed collections and ad-hoc requests.
• To supervise the return of vehicles to the depot and delivery/receipt of vehicles for service/ inspection/repair to and from the contractor.
• To ensure induction training for all new operational staff and raise ongoing training issues with the Manager.
• Assist with the assessment of rounds for both risks and efficiency and produce clear instructions for the drivers and collectors, including any written drivers notes.
• To carry out regular inspections of work and operations to ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
• To assist with service improvement projects with agreed outcomes and resources.
• To undertake the appraisal of staff and carry out return to work interviews as required.
• To assist in dealing with enquires from the general public within agreed timescales.
• To work with the Street Scene Services Management Team to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the service and to provide cover in the team when required.
You must hold a valid HGV Class 2 licence, be competent on MS Office, have the ability to motivate a team, health and safety and ideally have knowledge in the waste and recycling industry.
