 We have an exciting opportunity within Smart Metering for a Technical and Policy Technician reporting to the Technical and Policy Manager.

Main Responsibilities

The main duties will be to support the Technical and Policy Manager in the development of metering products and provide engineering support to the Smart Metering business

The development of metering products will include:

  • The development and introduction of metering policy including metering installation practices
  • The identification, deployment, support and performance monitoring of new metering products
  • The introduction and maintenance of product support software and systems
  • Monitoring industry change and ensuring compliance with relevant technical standards.

Engineering support will include:

  • Providing engineering advice to the Smart Metering business and customers on both policy and site specific technical queries
  • Site attendance to resolve technical site issues or complex metering schemes
  • Management of specific metering projects which are outside of the standard service provision
  • Assisting with the training of staff

This role will require travel throughout the UK and when this is required a hire car will be made available. 

The Ideal Candidate

You must have strong technical knowledge of and experience in commercial and industry metering systems, including communications systems and be able to demonstrate strong software and systems skills.

You must have the ability to communicate effectively with other team members, management and customers both verbally and in writing, including policy and technical documentation.

Please note that the vacancy will close at noon on the closing date. 

A lower starting salary of £33,411 may be offered on appointment until such time as the successful candidate is able to fulfil all of the requirements of the role.
