Job Introduction

Love football, live events and hospitality? Take your Health & Safety career somewhere extraordinary.

Imagine working behind the scenes at one of the UK's most iconic football stadiums, where Premier League matchdays, major concerts and unforgettable hospitality experiences are all part of the working environment.

At Sodexo Live!, we're looking for a Health, Safety & Food Safety Advisor to join our team at St. James' Park, home of Newcastle United Football Club.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in health and safety, food safety or operational compliance who enjoys being hands-on, working with people and making a difference in a busy hospitality environment.

Rather than spending your days behind a desk, you'll be out and about across the stadium, working alongside our catering, hospitality and operational teams to help maintain high standards, identify areas for improvement and provide practical advice that makes everyone's job easier and safer.

From supporting routine food safety checks to helping managers prepare for busy matchdays and events, you'll enjoy plenty of variety and the opportunity to develop your knowledge across different areas of health, safety and compliance.

You don't need to be an expert in every aspect of HSEQ to succeed in this role. We're looking for someone who has a good understanding of safety and compliance, enjoys working collaboratively and is confident supporting others to do the right thing.

Whether you're already working as a Health & Safety Advisor, have a background in food safety or catering compliance, or you're an experienced hospitality professional looking to develop your career in this area, we'd love to hear from you.

If you're looking for a role that combines your technical knowledge with a passion for people, hospitality and continuous improvement, this could be your next move.

What You'll Do

  • Support catering, hospitality and operational teams in maintaining high standards of health, safety, food safety and compliance.
  • Carry out regular workplace inspections, food safety checks and compliance audits across kitchens, hospitality areas and concessions.
  • Provide practical advice and guidance to managers and colleagues, helping them understand and follow safe working practices.
  • Help identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement, working with teams to implement practical solutions.
  • Support the completion and review of risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe working procedures.
  • Assist with accident and incident investigations, helping identify lessons learned and preventative measures.
  • Deliver safety briefings, toolbox talks and training to help colleagues understand their responsibilities.
  • Work alongside operational managers to support safe and compliant delivery during Premier League matchdays, concerts and other major events.
  • Support preparations for internal audits, food safety inspections and visits from regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records, monitor actions and help managers track improvements.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, encouraging a proactive and supportive approach to health, safety and food safety.

What You Bring

We're looking for someone who is practical, approachable and enjoys working with operational teams. You don't need to have experience in every area, but you should have a good foundation in health and safety, food safety or compliance and a willingness to develop.

Essential

  • Previous experience in a health and safety, food safety, quality, compliance or operational management role with responsibility for maintaining safety standards.
  • A good understanding of workplace health and safety or food safety requirements, ideally gained within catering, hospitality or another operational environment.
  • Confidence carrying out workplace inspections, compliance checks or audits.
  • The ability to provide clear, practical advice and guidance to managers and frontline colleagues.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with an approachable and supportive working style.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and maintaining accurate records.
  • A proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn, develop and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to work flexibly to support the operational needs of the venue, including some weekends and event days.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH qualification or equivalent health and safety training.
  • Level 4 Food Safety qualification, or willingness to work towards achieving this within an agreed timeframe.
  • Experience within catering, hospitality, stadiums, leisure, events or other busy operational environments.
  • Previous involvement in accident investigations, risk assessments or food safety audits.
  • Experience delivering training, safety briefings or coaching colleagues on compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, COSHH or food safety management systems.
  • An interest in developing broader knowledge across health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

Why Join Us?

This is more than a traditional health and safety role. It's an opportunity to work in a unique sporting and hospitality environment, supporting the teams who help bring unforgettable experiences to life.

You'll benefit from a varied working environment, exposure to large-scale events and the chance to build your skills alongside experienced operational and safety professionals.

At Sodexo Live!, you'll be part of a team that values collaboration, practical problem-solving and doing things the right way.
