Lead the team. Raise the standards. Develop your career.

Ready to take the next step in your cleaning career?

Join Sodexo at Edinburgh Academy Senior School as a School Cleaning Supervisor and take on a hands-on leadership role where you’ll support your team, maintain high standards and help deliver a clean, safe and welcoming environment for the whole school community.

This is more than a cleaning role. You’ll have the opportunity to build your supervisory experience, develop your people-management skills and take greater ownership of the daily operation, supported by training and development opportunities with Sodexo.

With a consistent Monday - Friday working pattern, permanent year-round employment and a supportive team environment, this is an opportunity to combine stability with the next step in your career.

What you’ll do

As School Cleaning Supervisor, you’ll take an active role in leading the day-to-day cleaning operation while remaining visible and hands-on with your team.

You’ll:

  • Lead, support and motivate the cleaning team, helping colleagues deliver consistently high standards.
  • Organise day-to-day cleaning activities, rotas and resources to ensure the service runs effectively.
  • Lead cleaning operations across the school, including floor care and reactive cleaning requirements.
  • Carry out audits, monthly performance checks and safety walks.
  • Monitor cleaning standards and take action where improvement is required.
  • Manage cleaning materials, equipment and chemicals safely and in accordance with COSHH requirements.
  • Support the training and development of colleagues, helping the team build their skills and confidence.
  • Ensure cleaning services meet Sodexo and client expectations.
  • Monitor performance, manage resources and report incidents appropriately.
  • Provide practical, hands-on support and additional cover when required.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve standards, ways of working and overall service delivery.
  • Promote a positive, professional and supportive working environment.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be someone who leads by example, takes pride in high standards and knows how important good leadership is to create a reliable and motivated team.

We’re looking for:

  • Experience within cleaning, housekeeping or a similar service environment, ideally with supervisory or team-leading experience.
  • A positive and confident approach to supporting and motivating colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A hands-on leadership style and willingness to support the team where needed.
  • Knowledge of cleaning processes, health and safety and COSHH regulations.
  • Good attention to detail and high standards of professionalism.
  • The ability to organise workloads and resources effectively.
  • Confidence in monitoring standards and addressing issues appropriately.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent service and creating a positive experience for students, colleagues and visitors.

Already an experienced cleaner ready to take your first formal step into supervision? We'd still like to hear from you if you can demonstrate the right leadership qualities, reliability and commitment to high standards.

Develop your leadership career

This role is an opportunity to build experience beyond day-to-day cleaning.

You’ll gain practical exposure to:

  • Team leadership
  • Planning and organising workloads
  • Training and supporting colleagues
  • Audits and performance checks

  • Resource management
  • Service standards and continuous improvement

If your longer-term ambition is to progress further within cleaning, facilities or site management, this role can help you build valuable supervisory experience while continuing to work closely with the operation.
