I am currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join my client’s small friendly team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager the successful candidate will play a key role in responding swiftly to production breakdowns and delivering planned preventative maintenance on a wide range of poultry processing and packing machinery, including conveyors, module and tray transport systems, plucking equipment, evisceration machinery, tray sealers, flow wrappers, and vacuum sealers.
Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer Key Duties :( Mechanically Biased)
• Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Maximising "uptime" by servicing critical conveyor systems, defeathering machinery, automated evisceration equipment, and portioning/packaging systems.
• Industrial Refrigeration & Climate Control: Overseeing the plant's large-scale chilling tunnels and cold storage facilities. Diaper Poultry explicitly relies on specialised air-chilling techniques to preserve their meat, making temperature and airflow control highly critical.
• Hygiene & Washdown Compliance: Ensuring all machinery designs, seals, and gearboxes can withstand heavy-duty chemical cleaning and daily pressure washing without corroding or failing.
• Pneumatics, Hydraulics, & Steam: Maintaining the extensive network of pumps, steam boilers (used for scalding tanks), and air compressors that power the factory's automated lines.
• Continuous Improvement (CI): Modifying existing factory layouts or fabricating custom parts to reduce waste, speed up production lines, or improve workplace safety.
Experience and Qualifications
• NVQ in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Maintenance Engineering.
Skills:
• Proficient fault-finding across mechanical and basic electrical systems (Multi-skilled), knowledge of fluid dynamics/pumps, and familiarity with food safety compliance regulations (like HACCP or BRC standards).
