Activity Coordinator
Create experiences that open doors to employment.

Not every young person builds confidence in a classroom. Sometimes it starts with sport, gaming, creative projects or trying something completely new.

As our Activity Coordinator, you'll design and deliver engaging activities for 18-24-year-olds, helping them develop confidence, resilience and practical workplace skills.

This is a hands-on role. You'll own the activity programme, deliver sessions, coordinate community partners and track participation and progress. Your success won't simply be measured by how many activities you run, but by what young people gain from taking part.

This is a mobile, community-based role, not a position based at one office. You will travel regularly throughout Berkshire & Oxfordshire to meet young people. A valid driving licence, access to a suitable vehicle and appropriate business-use insurance are essential.

Before you apply: the essentials

To be considered, your CV and application must clearly demonstrate:

  • Experience planning, organising and delivering engaging group activities, workshops or practical learning experiences.
  • Experience engaging young people or people facing barriers to participation, adapting your approach to different needs, confidence levels and abilities.
  • Ability to organise activities, resources and competing priorities, take ownership of delivery and respond constructively when plans change.
  • Evidence of building productive relationships with colleagues, community organisations or external partners to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, recognise safeguarding concerns and follow appropriate professional procedures.
  • Evidence of commitment, reliability and consistently delivering high standards of work.
  • Evidence of delivering outcomes, targets, tasks, projects or agreed objectives.
  • Confident working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn other digital systems.
  • Ability to present your recent employment history clearly, including explaining gaps or short-term roles during the previous five years.

Useful, but not essential

  • Experience within youth services, employability, education, community engagement or similar provision.
  • Experience using sport, creative arts, technology, gaming or community projects to develop transferable skills.
  • Knowledge of local employers, training opportunities or community services.

The real job

You'll create a varied programme of activities that young people genuinely want to attend, with a clear purpose behind every session.

One day you might deliver a teamwork challenge. Another could involve organising an employer visit, a creative workshop, a volunteering project or an activity using technology.

You'll help participants recognise how these experiences develop communication, problem-solving, teamwork and workplace confidence.

You'll also:

  • Build relationships with community partners, employers and activity providers.
  • Work with Mentors to encourage attendance and respond to disengagement.
  • Adapt sessions so people with different needs can participate.
  • Coordinate venues, resources and safe delivery arrangements.
  • Record attendance, feedback, progress and outcomes accurately.

What success looks like

Young people attend, participate and return because activities feel relevant and worthwhile.

They can recognise and explain the skills they've developed and take meaningful steps towards employment, education or training.

Your programme is organised, inclusive and reliable. Partners work effectively with you, records are accurate and participant feedback helps you improve delivery.

The working reality

This is a practical, participant-facing role, not simply an events-planning position.

Some young people may lack confidence, struggle with attendance or have had difficult experiences of education or employment. You'll need patience, creativity, professional boundaries and the confidence to maintain a purposeful group environment.

You'll balance delivering engaging sessions with planning, safeguarding, partner coordination and accurate administration.

Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

What you get

  • 25 days' annual leave, increasing with service.
  • Vitality health and wellbeing support, including GP services, mental health support and physiotherapy.
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, including up to six counselling sessions a year and legal, financial and debt guidance.
  • Workplace pension, with salary sacrifice available subject to eligibility and scheme rules.
  • Share buy scheme.
  • Up to £360 a year through IncentFit for eligible activities.
  • Wellbeing, retail, fitness, travel and mobile discounts, including 20% off eligible EE mobile plans.

Recruitment process

Apply through our recruitment platform and complete the short initial questionnaire. If you start your application through Indeed or LinkedIn, you will still need to complete this step before we can review your application.

We assess your CV and application against the minimum essential criteria and the evidence you provide. Keep your CV concise and focus on what you personally did, owned, improved or delivered, rather than listing duties alone.

If shortlisted, the process may include a recruitment call or Teams conversation, role-related assessment and a hiring-manager interview with a practical exercise.

Preparation, responsiveness and attention to detail matter throughout. Any offer is conditional on satisfactory applicable pre-employment checks.

Safer recruitment

Get Set UK is committed to safer recruitment practices to help protect our colleagues and the people we support.

As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to provide a complete and accurate history of your employment and other relevant activity for the previous five years, including explanations for any gaps, together with referee details covering the previous three years.

Please ensure the information you provide is complete and accurate, as we may be unable to progress your application until our safer recruitment requirements have been completed.

Depending on the role, further pre-employment checks may include references, right-to-work checks, DBS checks and/or other appropriate vetting.
