Job Title: Deputy Catering Manager
Location: Royston
Contract: Permanent, 32.5 hours per week
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 3:00pm

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Deputy Catering Manager to join our team at Johnson Matthey in Royston. Working alongside the Catering Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering a high-quality catering and hospitality service while leading and supporting a dedicated team within a professional corporate environment.

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll help oversee the day-to-day operation, maintain high standards of food safety, customer service and compliance, and support the continuous improvement of the catering service, ensuring an exceptional experience for employees, visitors and guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day management of the catering operation and deputise for the Catering Manager when required.
• Lead the team to deliver excellent food, hospitality and customer service standards.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, allergen management, health & safety and company procedures.
• Support stock control, ordering, due diligence and the efficient running of the operation.
• Coach, support and develop team members while driving continuous improvement and maintaining excellent client satisfaction.

Skills & Experience

• Previous management or supervisory experience in a busy catering or hospitality environment.
• A passion for delivering outstanding customer service and leading successful teams.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
• A good understanding of food safety, health & safety and allergen management.
• Experience using IT systems and managing stock, budgets and operational processes.
• A proactive, positive approach with excellent communication and leadership skills.
• An NVQ level 3 in Catering, along with an IOSH qualification or a willingness to work towards one.
