Staff for Education are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming Secondary School in Hucknall for a Design & Technology (DT) Teacher to join their team starting in September 2026 on a full-time, long term basis. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire students, develop practical skills and encourage creativity across a range of Design & Technology disciplines in a supportive school environment.
The Role
As a Design & Technology Techer, you will:
• Plan and deliver engaging DT lessons to KS3-KS4 students, with KS5 where applicable.
• Teach one or more DT specialisms, including Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, Graphics, Food Technology or Textiles, depending on your experience and the school's requirements.
• Encourage creativity, innovation and practical problem-solving.
• Ensure safe working practices are followed within workshops, classrooms and specialist teaching areas.
• Assess, monitor and support student progress.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to the success of the department and wider school community.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Design & Technology within a UK secondary school.
• Knowledge of one or more DT specialisms.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• A passion for inspiring young people through practical learning.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
