Staff for Education are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Wakefield. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who is committed to supporting children as they make the important transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum and the ability to create engaging, structured, and nurturing learning experiences that support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
The Role
• Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the Year 1 curriculum
• Supporting pupils as they develop key skills in reading, writing, maths, and wider subjects
• Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
• Assessing pupil progress and adapting teaching to meet individual needs
• Encouraging confidence, independence, and a love of learning
• Supporting pupils’ transition into Key Stage 1
• Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and parents/carers
In order to be considered for the role, you must have:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Experience teaching within Year 1 or Key Stage 1 (ECTs are welcome to apply)
• A strong understanding of the National Curriculum and early primary development
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• A nurturing and engaging approach to teaching
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A passion for supporting children’s learning and development
