At Tarmac we are currently recruiting for an experienced Terminal Operations and Technical Lead for our site based in Dagenham in Essex.  Whilst you will be expected to travel to site when required, we are offering that this role can be based for a colleague in London or the South East. This role is commutable from such locations as Tilbury, Gravesend, Rochester, Gillingham, Dartford, Purfleet on Thames, Grays, Wickford, Southend-on-Sea, Basildon, Brentwood, Billericay, Dagenham, Erith, Barking, Wanstead, Walthamstow, Woolwich, Greenwich, Dartford, Sidcup, London, Bromley, Sevenoaks, Chingford, Waltham Cross, Hackney and the surrounding areas.

You as the Terminal Operations and Technical Lead will work cross-functionally at our Bitumen Terminal supporting Tarmac across the South East and Midlands region, this will primarily include the operational duties of our terminal with the day-to-day working with your colleagues and customers to provide the ‘face’ of Tarmac. You will be working with the wider team to ensure our Asphalt plants receive the Bitumen for our mixes.

You will be instrumental in ensuring that terminal operations run smoothly, and that product is available at the loading rack, within specification and on time, each and every day. As it will be a small team initially, there will also be a requirement to cover for colleagues within the team, so there is a chance to learn about other areas (e.g. order scheduling and logistics) to build your career with us here at Tarmac.

Your role as a Terminal Operations and Technical Lead will include (not exhaustive):

• Responsible for the Quality Control process related to Bitumen supply
• Ensure our loading terminal maintains UKCA accreditation
• Manage Bitumen ship imports ensuring all required testing and inspection is carried out
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the business you're working for by identifying and taking ownership of opportunities for improvement to the processes we use, the services we provide and the values you can add to the business
• Responsible for the Quality Control processes related to Bitumen supply
• Support colleagues to ensure our loading terminal maintains UKCA accreditation
• Conduct the daily testing process to ensure product is in specification as to the end user requirements
• Based on test results, produce blend recipes daily and liaise with terminal operator to ensure they are applied
• Manage our truck imports to the terminal of blend components or additives – placing orders for replenishment
• Detail in-tank transfers and blends when required
• Work with the Tarmac technical teams in the developmental support of new products
• Act as focal point with Bitumen suppliers on all technical items

To succeed in the role of a Terminal Operations and Technical Lead the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:

• ESSENTIAL - Experience in the technical testing of Bitumen would prove extremely beneficial, but we would consider the equivalent experience in the fuel, oil or gas environment – testing experience is essential in this role
• A strong focus on delivery service and partnership building
• The willingness to travel between Tarmac offices, this will be required in the role to give you a greater understanding of how Bitumen is used within Tarmac and our Asphalt manufacturing
• Confident in the use of IT systems
• Strong analytical skills with ability to solve complex problems
