The Role

In any kitchen, hygiene is paramount—especially in a production kitchen that produces thousands of meals daily. At Bigham’s, we’re looking for passionate, detail-oriented individuals with an engineering mindset to join our hygiene team. As a Hygiene Technical Operator, you will be responsible for not only maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our production kitchen but also ensuring that all hygiene systems and equipment operate at peak efficiency. This role blends technical expertise with a commitment to upholding the highest hygiene standards.

Working Hours 

4 Days on 4 Days Off - 6am-6pm

Main Responsibilities
  • Engineering-Driven Hygiene Management: Utilise your technical skills to maintain and operate hygiene-related equipment, including automated cleaning systems, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning effectively. Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to avoid breakdowns and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Food Safety Compliance: Apply your knowledge of food safety regulations, such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), to implement and oversee hygiene practices that ensure full compliance in all aspects of food production.
  • Sanitisation Procedures: Lead the sanitization process by deploying advanced techniques and equipment for cleaning and sanitising production areas, machinery, and tools. Ensure that sanitization procedures are optimized for both effectiveness and efficiency, minimizing downtime.
  • Technical Problem-Solving: Diagnose and troubleshoot hygiene-related issues, from equipment malfunctions to contamination risks, implementing corrective actions and improvements to prevent recurrence. Collaborate with the engineering team to develop solutions for complex technical challenges.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance hygiene processes and systems, leveraging engineering principles to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives aimed at optimising production and hygiene standards.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Work closely with production staff, supervisors, and the engineering team to ensure a cohesive approach to maintaining and improving hygiene standards throughout the facility. Report on hygiene performance metrics and contribute to cross-functional problem-solving sessions.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong technical background in operating and maintaining hygiene-related equipment and systems within a food production environment.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Regulations: Solid understanding of food safety standards and regulations, particularly HACCP, and how they apply to industrial hygiene practices.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for identifying potential hygiene issues and proactively addressing them to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve hygiene-related technical issues, implement corrective actions, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Effective communicator who can work collaboratively across teams to ensure hygiene and production goals are met.
