The Finance Team in Cambridgeshire is well regarded and is a key support service that helps the smooth running of the Council and ensures value for money for local taxpayers.
Working with an experienced lead for school financial support, this role makes a real difference to the financial sustainability of our schools and is a key part of ensuring good stewardship of public funds.
This post will be term-time only within our traded finance team who support maintained schools as part of the annual financial cycle.
We work on a hybrid basis at Cambridgeshire, this role is primarily homebased with the option to use the office when necessary and to visit schools when needed.
Re-location support can be provided to eligible people who move to the local area for this role.

You will be involved in range of financial activities and will be integral to supporting schools set and monitor sustainable budgets.
You will be responsible for providing high quality financial support and advice to head teachers and governors.
You will be working alongside other business partners in the Children’s finance team, as well as liaising with colleagues across the CEF directorate.
About youWe are looking to appoint a committed and self-motivated financial professional to support the team in the provision of a comprehensive financial support service to our customers and partners.
Ideally you would be a fully or part-qualified accounting technician, or have extensive relevant experience, and be able to demonstrate experience in budget setting, monitoring and planning, together with strong technical accounting skills. You should have a proven track record of undertaking complex financial analysis and possess the ability to communicate this information in an understandable manner.
We are committed to the professional development of our staff in the Finance Team, so don’t be worried if you don’t have a background in Schools finance.
