Role Summary

Treasury department manages over 100 company bank accounts with over 4000 transactions going through them and about 1000 of them being urgent payments being made on a daily basis. In addition to this, we also operate about 800 bank accounts for the sites.

As an Assistant Accountant in the Treasury department you will work with five others in the department in keeping all bank account mandates up-to-date, facilitate monthly house-keeping payments, allocating certain cost across all sites in the group and reviewing certain monthly reconciliations. This is a full time position based in Potters Bar, Hartfordshire, UK.

This role will provide the successful candidate with opportunities to gain broad experience within the finance function of a developing business and in developing the candidate’s communication, reporting and management skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Putting together the monthly house-keeping payment schedule
  • Allocating cost from certain centralised billing to all sites in the group
  • Keeping bank account lists for the group up-to-date
  • Keeping all bank mandates up-to-date
  • Closing unwanted bank accounts and opening any new account (if needed)
  • Posting certain accruals and prepayments
  • Reviewing certain monthly reconciliations
  • Any other ad hoc tasks as and when required

Experience and Skills Required

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to identify issues and use initiative to solve problems.
  • At least two years of similar or finance experience
  • Good system skills including good excel knowledge.
  • Accounting experience involving posting journals
  • Self-motivated team player with willingness to help others and go above and beyond their formal role.
  • Exercise the upmost discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • Preferably studying for an Accounting qualification
