Objective of role  

The Housing Area Team are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to be part of a busy and fast paced administration team of four.

Within this role, you will learn how to deliver excellent customer service surrounding repairs and maintenance, dealing with emergency and routine repairs, tenancy sign ups and permits. You will be working to provide effective and efficient administration, within a team providing housing management services to approximately 8000 properties.

About the role 

Your role will be essential in providing administrative support to both technical and Estate Management officers as well as senior management.

Within the role you will learn how to make quick decisions, deciding the best course of action for emergency repairs. You will deal with telephone and personal enquiries from members of the public, contractors, and leaseholders both face to face in housing reception and via telephone, developing a broad knowledge base around tenancy management and housing policy.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • You must be able to work as part of a busy team, dealing sympathetically with members of the public, often in stressful and demanding circumstances whilst retaining a keen eye for detail and the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • You will possess a sound administrative and numerical knowledge, a good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to learn other IT packages such as our Housing Management Database (NEC). 
  • You will be required to issue repair orders, process invoices for payment and maintain computer and manual records whilst being required to meet deadlines and manage daily administration duties.
  • You will have an excellent phone manner and be able to remain professional in challenging scenarios. Excellent written communication skills are required for liaising with the public, often in letter writing or via email. 
  • You will require a good understanding of and commitment to the council’s Equal Opportunities policies as they apply to service delivery.
