A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced solicitor in our commercial contracts legal function as we expand to support the Society’s exciting programme of development and digital transformation.

Reporting to the Head of Legal, Commercial Contracts, you will work autonomously at a senior level to deliver a trusted, valued, and high-quality legal service for commercial contracts and outsourcing agreements.

You’ll join the Commercial Contracts division of our 20-strong Legal & ESG function working closely with stakeholders right across the business to deliver legal advice t o support our programme of initiatives to drive forwards our Money and Homes business divisions, Tech, Finance and People. No two days are the same and you’ll be confident in managing competing priorities, working to deadlines and under pressure and making advice accessible and pragmatic.

What Will You Be Doing?

This is a wide-ranging opportunity to really feel part of our business and get involved in strategic contracts and partnerships delivering new services and technology to meet both our evolving business and customers’ needs.. You will:

  • provide accurate, timely and commercially pragmatic legal advice which balances the interests of the Society and the group against business objectives.
  • Lead in a collaborative manner with various business units on the drafting, negotiation and completion of complex high value and high profile strategi c commercial contracts and regulated outsourcing agreements.
  • Deal with other contract management issues and queries and in particular support and add value to the procurement function with any contract work connected with the management of suppliers for the Society and the group.
  • Support the Head of Legal, Commercial Contracts in managing and collating contract know-how and creating contract precedents, templates and process documents as required by the Society and the group.

What Do We Need From You?

  • In depth experience of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and outsourcing agreements in a regulated environment, either in-house or in private
  • practice.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly on complex legal issues (both
  • verbal and written) to direct/influence and persuade others.
  • You will be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales with significant post qualification experience.
