Service Engineer
Barnsley
£40,440 per year
Steel Cactus Recruitment are very pleased to be working exclusively with our client; an extremely reputable and established food manufacturer in the Barnsley area. Due to business demand; an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Service Engineer to join their friendly team working at their site.
The shift pattern is 3 on 3 off shifts rotating days and nights, 12 hour shifts 7-7, average hours per week 40.25.
You will need to be flexible in your working hours, as you may be required to work on-call and to help cover your engineering colleagues planned and unplanned leave, holidays, and sickness.
Responsibilities
• Planned maintenance and continuous improvements
• Reactive maintenance
• Excellent fault-finding skills, undertaking quality repairs
• Ensuring that the plant & equipment runs efficiently, smoothly, and safely, minimising downtime
• Complying with all health and safety legislation
• Completing daily work sheets and general record keeping.
• Helping to install and commission new machinery
• Maintaining mechanical and electrical parts and spares, sourcing, and ordering supplies
• General knowledge of plumbing, painting, fitting, finishing, and other general repairs
• Mentoring two apprentices
• Working closely with the engineering manager and other engineering colleagues and other essential departments
• Attending training and developing course, as appropriate
Required skills
• Experience of working as a mechanical/electrical engineer, within an industrial setting. Ex Naval engineers or similar welcomed
• A minimum level 3 qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, (NVQ, City and Guilds, HND or equivalent)
• Apprentice trained
