This is a 12 month fixed-term role. 

We are looking to appoint a Course Leader to manage the administration duties of maths and English during a one-year staff secondment. The leader will ensure that planning, delivery, and assessments are scheduled in a timely manner and that the curriculum is strong and robust. 

The School of Travel, Food and Drink offer a variety of courses to almost 500 students, which range from entry-level 3 to extended diplomas and Apprenticeships. Maths and English are integral to our course offers, with the majority of students working towards a grade 4 in one or both options.

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for retention, achievement, attendance and positive progression rates for maths and English.
  • Maintain high quality and effective delivery across the course team.
  • Develop a highly effective curriculum model to ensure engagement and achievement.
  • Responsible for developing new units, modules and courses in line with government policy, awarding organisation developments and student demand as well as local community, economic and employer requirements.
  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources and assessment plans and ensure these are in place for all the course(s) teaching activity.
  • Help to ensure all team members maintain and update knowledge of the subject and/or vocational area.
  • Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable a. progression.
About You
  • Holds a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
  • You will be highly motivated to ensure the maths and English offers are both inspirational and robust to ensure students attend and engage.
  • Your ability to effectively communicate with the staff team and other stakeholders is key to the success of maths and English within Travel, Food and Drink, as is a high level of skill in organisation and the management of systems.
