This is an exciting opportunity to join the Staffordshire County councils Records Centre team, which is part of the Information Governance Unit.

The Record Centre’s role is to store, retrieve & to destroy confidential paper records under the GDPR legislation. Due to the constraints of the role, we do not offer hybrid working all staff are required to work on site.

The Record Centre Officer role will include Supporting the Record Centre Team Leader with day-to-day Record management & development of processes and procedures within the Record Centre.

You will be also working closely with other Record centre staff to retrieve & store records within our warehouse environment, so this will require someone who is comfortable working at height and is able to work with ladders.

The Record Centre officer role also gives you the opportunity to learn & test your skills in Digital Printing. The multitude of skills learned within this opportunity are transferable to a wide range of job roles.

Main Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for storage, retrieval,  return &  physical destruction of paper records in accordance with SCC policy, retention periods & Guidance. 
  • To search various record management archival systems to identify any relevant information that is required for retrieval for SCC clients.
  • Supervise the Record Centre Assistant with workloads.
  • Act as super user for the records management system O’Neil 
  • Support the Record Centre Team Leader with day to day enquires & to deputise as premises manager in their absence.
  • Support the Digital printing service when the Digital Print Operative is absent, this includes printing Cheques, police speed awareness letters & any SCC correspondence.
  • Ensure the premises is secure in accordance with Record Centre procedures.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience of working in a Record Centre, logistics, or similar manual handling environment.
  • Competent administrative Microsoft Office and organisational skills.
  • An attention to detail, as well as the ability to work quickly whilst maintaining accuracy.
  • Organised and methodical approach to work.
  • To be able to organise the work of others.
  • Ability to utilise electronic record systems.
  • The ability to work well in a small team or independently.
