In this role you will assist and work alongside Clinical Staff, including Nurses and Doctors, and members of the wider multidisciplinary team, including administration staff and managers, to meet the needs of the service and service users. The post holder is expected to work within their scope of ability, authority, and responsibility.

As this is an Oldham, Rochdale, and Bury Integrated Sexual Health Service the post holder may need to travel to various locations across the localities therefor a full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential.

This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week.

Main Responsibilities
  • Follow all policies and protocols pertaining to role, reporting any concerns or issues to Nurse Manager
  • Provide first point of contact to patients assessed as requiring asymptomatic screening management
  • Undertake necessary tests including phlebotomy, urinalysis, and instruction to clients regarding self- testing for STI
  • Assist with the correct collection and recording of specimens
  • Offer advice and education to patients regarding safe sex practices and offer information regarding further help and advice
  • Perform condom demonstration to clients and understand the importance of education
  • Perform pregnancy testing following instruction from Clinical staff
  • Assist Clinical staff as necessary including recording of blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Demonstrable experience of working with groups of vulnerable young people 
  • Experience of the issues affecting young people, particularly vulnerable or excluded groups 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young people, demonstrating an awareness and   understanding of the diverse range of issues affecting them 
  • Excellent communication skills, especially with young people and excluded groups  
  • Ability to network and build sustainable working partnerships with other agencies and key stakeholders 
  • Ability to organise own workload and work without direct supervision 
  • Handling sensitive information and listening to the needs of clients and responding appropriately 

You will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
