Role Overview:

As the GIRS Accredited Design Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of designers in the development and approval of gas infrastructure designs. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with GIRS standards and regulations, while also providing expertise in quotation and cost estimation for infrastructure projects.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and manage a team of designers, providing guidance and support throughout the design approval process.
  • Develop and review gas infrastructure designs, ensuring compliance with GIRS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of quotations and cost estimates for infrastructure projects, considering factors such as materials, labour, and equipment.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely approval of designs and quotations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimise design processes and improve efficiency.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to team members, resolving any design or approval-related issues as they arise.
  • Review and approve design drawings, technical specifications, and quotations for gas infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Ensuring service level agreements are achieved and maintained through effective management of workload and resources.
  • Liaising with Customers, service providers, and key internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless tendering/design life-cycle process.
  • Monitoring day-to-day design activities and corresponding resourcing.
  • Managing resource conflicts.
  • Monitoring and managing the performance, productivity and development of the team

Who you are

To be considered for this position you will have at least one to two year’s previous experience managing a team, ideally within a multi utility business, you will need to be an excellent communicator and have the ability to work on your own initiative to support and drive the team to achieve company targets.

Key Requirements

  • GIRS accreditation as a Design & Project Management Team Leader (D&PMTL) or equivalent, with demonstrable experience in gas infrastructure design and approval.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team, with strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of GIRS standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in quotation and cost estimation techniques, with a track record of delivering accurate and competitive quotations for infrastructure projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively resolve design and approval challenges.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within tight deadlines.
  • Relevant qualifications in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
