Coventry City Council’s Digital Services team is a busy, vibrant and innovative service responsible for delivering key enabling and transformational services for the wider organisation, city and external partners. We support the day to day operation of the Council whilst also innovating and enabling the organisational transformation that is required. 

Our Technology teams ensure that our core technology offering meets the needs of the organisation whilst planning, designing and innovating to ensure we have a truly transformative technology road map to keep the Council and wider city fit for the future.

Our Digital Delivery teams comprise customer and change functions that ensure we continually understand the overall organisational and wider City’s demands for digital, change and innovation and manage this delivery to our end users.  This includes both ‘primary point of contact’ services for customer teams and supporting and enabling the digital delivery of Council and partner services.

What is the job role?

This is a 12 month secondment opportunity for an internal candidate.  It has arisen due to the substantive postholder securing a promotional role in the Coventry Connects programme for the next 12 months.

The job role is a Business Analyst in the Digital Delivery Team in Digital Services.  The Business Analysts help the Council get better at what we do by analysing and improving processes and the systems we use.

In the role you will be:

Gathering and documenting business requirements and processes and facilitating communication between service colleagues and technical teams  to ensure a clear understanding of requirements and expectations.

Analysing business processes and systems to identify areas for improvement, optimisation and automation, and analysing data to identify trends and patterns that can assist in decision making.

Assisting in the development of test scenarios and conducting testing to verify that the developed solution meets the specified requirements.

Supporting change management and transformation projects and helping colleagues  adapt to new processes, systems or organisational changes resulting from projects.

Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for enhancing processes and systems.

We are looking for someone who is keen to gain experience or develop further as a Digital Business Analyst.

We’re not expecting you to have the technical skills right away.  The opportunity will be offered to gain the British Computer Society Diploma in Business Analysis with the next cohort starting in October 2024.  This would be via an Apprenticeship with a national provider, which typically takes 18 months to complete.

The secondment would ideally suit someone with:

• A passion for technology and innovation, excellent communication and problem solving skills, with curiosity, creativity and openness to ideas. 
• An understanding of how effective digital developments can add value to the Council and the importance of designing services around the needs of those who use them.

• A team focussed approach, building and growing positive relationships, with flexibility, adaptability and composure in the face of change.
