We currently have a vacancy for a Business Officer (admin) position in our Special Education Needs - Statutory Assessment Team (fixed term / permanent opportunities available).    

The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of Windows & Microsoft packages (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet), and experience of using client databases and data processing. You will need to be self-motivated, organised and flexible, with the ability to manage your own workload, prioritise and forward plan.

You will be required to provide high quality administrative support to the team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience within the Local Authority and develop knowledge and understanding of education services.

The role involves liaising with colleagues, professionals and members of the public over the phone and email, so excellent communication skills are essential. An understanding of confidentiality and data protection is imperative.

What will you be doing?

The role will require:

  • A customer service approach across the whole team is paramount as we respond to queries from the team we support as well as via phone and e-mail.
  • Co-ordinating and organising administrative tasks, undertake daily activities as directed by the service.
  • Attention to detail as you will be working with confidential, sensitive data.
  • Adhere to business processes to achieve a quality and consistent service.  
  • Use inhouse data recording systems to update information as and when required.

To be successful in this role you will need to be self-motivated, organised and flexible, with the ability to manage your own workload, prioritise and forward plan. You will have excellent interpersonal skills combined with the ability to represent the service in a positive and professional manner, including communicating with a wide range of internal and external customers.

You must be reliable, have a polite manner and a friendly approach to help you get on with people at all levels. You will need to be a good team worker but also have the ability to work on your own initiative when required and be able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
