The Vacancy

Newcastle College requires a dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role of Lecturer in Aviation Engineering.

The primary purpose of this role is the formal delivery of aerospace engineering lessons for both the further education level 3 BTEC Diploma and the higher educational Honours Degree BSc courses delivered by the Newcastle Aviation Academy. Experience in delivering the aircraft mechanical aspects at these levels would be desirable.

This post requires a strong aviation engineering background and the candidate must have extensive knowledge and working experience of either civilian or military aerospace engineering industries and their regulations. This will ensure that all learners get the best possible service from a knowledgeable and capable lecturer.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the programme leadership of the courses allocated to them and will be responsible for all teaching duties including setting and marking of assessments using paper and online systems, quality cycle paperwork, tutorial commitments and all other associated duties as directed by management as required.

The candidate must be qualified to honours degree level (Level 6) or qualified to the industry-recognised standard in a relevant field, hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2, or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe. It is desirable that the candidate has experience of effective programme leadership in FE, HE and / or Apprenticeships and has a proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice.

An ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines alongside strong oral and written communication skills and good IT skills are also essential. The hours of work will be flexible and may include evening and weekends according to demand.
