The Edinburgh Academy is seeking to appoint a piano teacher for August 2024 to join our thriving Music department, engaged on a self-employed basis. We anticipate having up to four days’ worth of piano pupils. There would also be the opportunity for accompanying rehearsals, exams and concerts. This is paid by the school at an hourly rate. It is possible for the role to be shared between multiple people.
We welcome applications from enthusiastic, well-qualified graduates with relevant teaching qualifications and experience. The successful candidate should have experience of teaching piano to pupils at primary and secondary school level. Experience of teaching ABRSM or TCL exam syllabuses is desirable. For the accompanying work, excellent sight-reading and experience of accompanying choirs is desirable.
Individual lessons are currently charged to parents at the school rate of £22.50 for a 30-minute lesson in the Junior School and £30 for a 40-minute lesson in the Senior School. Pupils expect to receive a minimum of 30 lessons a year, and extra lessons can be arranged in agreement with the parent. Accompanying is paid at the same rate of £45 an hour.
Interviews are likely to be held on 23rd or 24th May 2024.

The appointment will be subject to interview and audition, satisfactory references, verification of identity and proof of qualifications.
