Senior Transport Manager

Full time, Permanent

We’re looking for a Senior Transport Manager to be responsible for all Transport Depots across the UK for MEDLOG. The duties will include liaising with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure maximization of operational efficiency and revenue. Reporting into the General Manager for Road and Rail, this role will have overall responsibility for supplier rate negotiations, SLA’s and KPI’s of third party, ensuring MEDLOG UK has sufficient resources to meet varying business demands, whilst ensuring a maximisation of revenue. The successful candidate will create an environment that encourages high performance at all levels.

Skills and experience you will bring to us

  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a similar role
  • Minimum National CPC holder
  • Proven knowledge and experience of working with both the Freight Forwarders and Shipping Lines, knowledgeable in all areas of container operations
  • Ability to identify commercial opportunities & proven track record in delivering business and profit growth, maximizing revenue through new and existing customers
  • Personal resilience, tenacity and ability to work in a high-pressured environment
  • Proven experience to balance and manage all costs and revenues to ensure short and long term business growth and financial performance
  • A professional, positive and flexible attitude and the ability to implement through others with solution driven and pragmatic problem solving
  • Excellent financial, numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to manage conflict, difficult conversations and complex situations, with a high degree of professionalism
  • An experienced leader capable of mentoring and developing a high performing and skilled team

How you will help us and what you can expect

  • To continue the ‘safety first’ mentality of the operation and further promote this culture
  • Promote and grow MEDLOG UK’s Transport operation, both internally and externally, identifying and delivering new revenue opportunities in collaboration with the Sales team
  • Manage Transport Depot network including periodic site visits
  • Ensure timely production and submission of reports
  • Monitor performance through SLA’s and KPI’s, implementing necessary changes to deliver a consistently high performance
  • Ensure that a high-performance culture is developed and maintained, overseeing the management of all Medlog transport employees, working closely with managers to ensure performance and productivity targets are met both in the short and long term
  • Maximize operational efficiency, continuously evolving our processes to eliminate avoidable cost/waste/risk
  • Lead process and system change in relation to MEDLOG UK’s Transport depot activities, including but not limited to the rollout and implementation of global systems within the UK
