Overview:

Specialist Networks Operations (SNO) is a company specializing in the management of large-scale fibre optic networks. Originally focused on network infrastructure, SNO is expanding into providing full-range IT services for small-medium sized businesses (SMEs). Their emphasis is on cloud-based solutions using Microsoft products (M365, Azure) and they also offer network infrastructure design, build, and maintenance. SNO has a team in both the UK and US dedicated to smooth network operations and high availability for clients.

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete an IT systems and networking -  Cloud Network Specialist - Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Developing, testing, and deploying new IT solutions for SNO and its customers.
  • Acting as second/third line support to the Network Operations Centre NOC).
  • Providing out of hours support to the NOC, on a rota basis.
  • Working with core partners and suppliers.
  • Managing and reporting on a range of Microsoft applications.
  • Support for Ubiquiti Unify network equipment.
  • Supporting Nokia network equipment.
  • Manage and contribute to internal knowledgebase assets.
  • Provide regular management reports

Desired skills and qualities:

  • Eager to learn and develop a career in IT and networking.
  • Possesses some foundational experience in IT/networking, gained through school or personal projects.
  • Will contribute to SNO's operational efficiency in City Operations (managing Fiber to the Premise in US cities) and Managed Desktop Services.

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week:

  • Monday to Friday, 9am - 5:30pm, 40 hrs a week.

Future prospects:

  • This apprenticeship comes with the opportunity of full-time employment upon successful completion of the course. You will stay with the Company and progress into a Data position within the IT team.
