We are Hestia. We make a difference.

At Hestia, we live by our values and are committed to a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation that provides a variety of services such as Domestic Abuse, Modern Slavery, Mental Health & Complex Needs and Criminal Justice. We are committed to empower people to rebuild their lives and regain independence.

The service you will work in….

This service is a recovery-focused Approved Premise for female offenders. Following extensive refurbishment, the building has been designed to be an environment that is not only warm and welcoming, but is a physically and psychologically safe space for residents to begin their rehabilitative journey. Staff focus on the development of physical and mental wellbeing in order to build a strong foundation for re-integrating in society.

The work done at Hestia's Female AP is also reflective of the need to recognise female offenders as having different journeys towards and through the Criminal Justice System to their male counterparts. The work that is carried out by this service additionally recognises the growing recognition of the impact of trauma on those who commit crimes, which is particularly true of women who offend. This informs all work done at the service.

Due to the nature of the role, this post is open to women only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1)

A day in this role looks like….

  • Modelling pro-social behaviour and attitudes, helping to create and maintain a positive culture of respect in all work inside and outside of the service with both clients and colleagues
  • Developing and overseeing systems, procedures and policies, to ensure all residents in the AP are managed to meet Ministry of Justice/National Probation Service (MoJ/NPS) requirements

  • Developing and recording effective outcomes, targets and performance measurement
  • Using initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks or issues as they arise
  • Please note that a requirement of this role includes providing out of hours on call cover to the Hestia Approved Premise. This is managed on a rota basis. On-call managers may need to travel to the services at short notice whilst on on-call duty and will therefore need to make decisions about what activities they can engage in outside work hours whilst on-call. A standard payment is made to all managers for their on-call duties.
