  • You can choose to accept or decline shifts based on your availability.
  • You’ll be paid circa £13.14 per hour worked.

Established in 1943, our network of Learning Locations provide day and residential courses for all ages, from young children to retired adults, from schools and communities throughout the UK, reaching many others through our publications and community-based programmes.

What you’ll be doing

As one of our Casual Chefs you will support the Lead Cook and play an important role in delivering our catering service to resident groups that visit us at our Field Studies Centre.

  • You’ll need to be happy to be able to carry out all duties associated with kitchen work.
  • We usually operate fixed mealtimes with one or two sittings, using set menus with two or three food choices.
  • No late shifts! Our finish time is normally 8.30pm at the latest.

Where you’ll be based

Field Studies Council Preston Montford opened as an outdoor education centre in 1957. Since then, it has been developed a reputation for high quality learning in Biology and Geography for the widest range of learners, from pre-school to master’s level.

Our learning centre is situated in the heart of Shropshire on the banks of the river Severn with views into Wales. The 12-hectare estate is managed to provide a rich range of habitats, including ponds, a wildflower meadow, ancient orchard, the remains of a walled garden and even a Bee hotel!
