What is the job role?

An opportunity has arisen in our learning disability day services for a Support Co-ordinator to lead the team in providing excellent day support for people with a Profound and Multiple Learning Disability to access community opportunities in Coventry. Although there is a base that is well equipped with modern equipment and interesting activities, the onus is on supporting people who attend to be involved in their community and to access the same opportunities that other Coventry citizens enjoy.

You will lead an enthusiastic and well trained team to meet peoples life goals and deepen the experiences and social interaction from the local community.  Opportunities will be co-produced with the person and their families to ensure bespoke, person centred activities.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

 

Who are we looking for?

You need to be passionate about enhancing the lives of people with a profound and multiple learning disability and be able to overcome the challenges that  may prevent someone to live a valued lifestyle in the community. You will have a strength based ethos and be able to show leadership qualities to drive the staff team forward.

You will need to manage a budget, navigate your way through council systems and use resources creatively to get best outcomes for the service.

You will have the ability to communicate effectively with staff, social workers, parents and carers and service users to get the best outcomes for those attending the service.
