Your Role - Occupational Therapy Assistant

Working hours – 37.5 Hours per week, Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm

Salary: £27,250 per year, increasing to £27,750 per year post probation

Service Line – Mental Health Forensic

Location: Cygnet Hospital Stevenage, Gravely Road, Stevenage, Herts SG1 4YS

Summary of the site:

Cygnet Stevenage operates as a medium secure unit and runs PICU/Acute service lines within this framework. Our site has a wide range of therapeutic resources where service users can develop their daily living skills in a bespoke environment.

This includes a Recovery College, ADL kitchen, a large gym, therapeutic garden, football pitch, music production studio, and many other therapeutic spaces. Service users are encouraged to extend their community skills with easy transport links from the hospital, and a thriving local town centre.

The successful candidate will join the OT department and support the OTs in delivering evidenced based interventions. Organization, leadership and delegation skills will be essential to the role in addition to sound knowledge of the Recovery Model and Model of Human Occupation.Experience of working with service users in a secure environment would be advantageous.

The post holder will be expected to support the team in providing individual and group sessions to facilitate recovery and rehabilitation. Clinical and managerial supervision will be provided by an Occupational Therapist and training opportunities will be offered to support professional development.

In this role you will work within an MDT (which consists of Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Medical and Social Work) to support recovery and rehabilitation for service users at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our Occupational Therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and over 300 OT support staff. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
