We are looking for a Specialist Nurse for Safeguarding Children to join our Safeguarding and Children in Care service based in Lancashire.

The role will be a Full time, Band 7 with Agenda for Change terms and conditions. Working Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with the opportunity to work condensed hours after completing your probation period.

The post holder will cover the Central locality which covers Preston, Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancashire – there will be occasions where the post holder will be required to work flexibly across the HCRG Care Group Lancashire footprint.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To contribute to ensuring that children are safeguarded from harm and that the service is applied to a high standard consistently across the locality and the whole of Lancashire
  • Provide advice and support to front line clinicians to ensure that high standards of practice in Safeguarding and child protection are maintained and continuously improved.
  • The post holder will need to deal with difficult situations and interruptions, which may need urgent responses. This may include communicating information to key stakeholders.
  • To liaise with other key agencies and share information as appropriate
  • To work closely with the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and other Service Managers to address safeguarding and protecting children practice issues in relation to competencies; performance management, training and development; discipline and grievance.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who has experience of managing complex child protection cases. With extensive knowledge of the law relating to child protection/children in need working. 

You will have previous experience in a Band 6/7 role, working in safeguarding environment. Working with multiple multi-disciplinary teams across a whole system. With a compliance in Safeguarding Training Level 3 being essential for the role.    

A full UK driving licence is required for this role and access to a vehicle.
