Position: Deputy Head Teacher / SENCO

Location: Bassaleg, Newport

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, term time

Salary Details: Up to £50,000 per annum

The ideal candidate will:

  • To deputise in the absence of our headteacher, as directed by the service.
  • To review then lead and develop our whole school approach to health and wellbeing.
  • To undertake role of Educational Visits Co-ordinator to ensure safe co-ordination and support before, during and after any of our off-site activities.
  • To be available to take and receive calls for staff absences and lead staffing and timetable adjustments to ensure our school remains open for our learners.
  • To support the headteacher with our Quality Assurance processes including learning walks, teaching and learning reviews and book looks.
  • To support our colleagues, particularly our duty teachers, in ensuring learning sessions on and off-site run effectively.
  • To oversee the co-ordination and completion of our processes relating to learners joining or leaving our school.
  • To support the headteacher with creation, implementation and monitoring of the school development plan.
  • To support the headteacher in signing off any incident/safeguarding logs.
  • To set the school standards for professionalism by ensuring all teaching staff are working towards the Welsh Government standards for teaching and leadership and practice set by the EWC.
  • To support the Vision & Values, Aims and Objectives of the school.
  • To adhere to and evaluating policies for achieving these aims and objectives.
  • To lead and manage staff and resources effectively.
  • To organise cover and participate in covering lessons as required to support the day to day running of the school.
  • To complete any other duties as reasonably expected of you by education line management.
  • To lead staff in planning for IEP’s and PCP’s. Support staff in setting targets for pupils & monitoring progress.​
  • Monitoring the implementation of policies and procedures.

Greenfields school:

Located in Bassaleg, Newport  supporting learners aged 9-16 with learning differences. The school is registered to provide education for up to 20 pupils, who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD). We cater for a mix of residential and day placements.
