So…. What is this role exactly?

This is an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager at Coops Foyer in Wigan.

Foyers provide a safe, nurturing, and inspiring place for young people aged 16-25 to live, learn and transition to independent adulthood.

You will be responsible for developing and managing the Foyer service to ensure high-quality housing, support, and personal development opportunities to our younger customers.  You must ensure the service complies with the commissioned contract requirements and the Foyer Federation accreditation standards.

It’s a great time to join the Foyer team in Wigan as we are in the process of planning and building a brand-new Foyer a short distance away from the current service at Coops Foyer.  The service has been accredited with the highest grade possible and highly thought of in YHG and the national Foyer network.  Imagine what the service will do with a new innovative building!

We’re looking for a person who is passionate about young people, and who thrives in a fast-paced environment where two days are never the same! You will have experience of engaging others with energy and leadership, and will have an unshakeably positive, can-do attitude with a high level of resilience.

What will my working week look like? 

The role is a 35-hour week spread flexibly Monday to Friday to compliment the team rota and the needs of the young people.  One day you could be doing a 9am to 5pm, on another day this could be 12 noon to 8pm.  Occasionally there could be weekend working and you will also be responsible for doing paid on call on a rota basis.

What will I be responsible for doing?

First and foremost, you will manage and lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver an excellent service.  You will oversee the housing, learning and support functions within a building that provides accommodation and community and learning facilities.  Building management, safety and compliance is a key part of the role.

Additions

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and will require the post holder to carry out ‘Regulated Activity’ as defined under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.
