Tourist Information Officer

14 hours per week

We are looking for a friendly, motivated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Tourist information Officer. The role will be predominately based at Malvern Tourist Information Centre, but the person may also be required at times to work at Upton Tourist Information Centre. This is a part time role, working within a small, friendly team. 

 As TIC Officer, you will provide a warm welcome to customers, assisting both visitors and residents with local tourist information throughout the year. You will also be required to sell tickets on behalf of businesses and assist with display, ordering and sales of publications and tourism materials. 

 About you 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be friendly and approachable.
  • Ideally already have knowledge of the local area and what is on offer for visitors and residents.
  • Be confident speaking to members of the public and able to provide advice and information in person, via the phone, in writing or via email.
  • Have experience in monitoring and record keeping.
  • Assist with the display, ordering and sale of publications and tourism material and local information.
  • Sell tickets on behalf of outside businesses and organisations and to ensure all income handled in the office is balanced and banked in accordance with the Council’s standard procedures
  • Use relevant computerised information systems in support of the above activities.
  • Update the Visit The Malverns website with event and business listing information when necessary.
  • Undertake such other duties appropriate to the post and grade as may be assigned from time to time.

 Other duties 

  • The postholder will be expected to act in an efficient and professional manner at all times.
  • The postholder will exercise proper and absolute integrity in respect of all confidential matters and the confidentiality of personal and sensitive information.
  • To have a flexible approach to the work required to be undertaken, to assist other staff and ensure that the administrative needs of the Council are met.
  • To work outside normal office hours from time to time as the demands of the post and emergencies dictate.
  • To demonstrate commitment to the Council's values.
  • The postholder may be required to undertake such other duties and training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required to be consistent with their general responsibility.
