What is the job role?

You will be working for the Highways Operations & Development Department within Coventry City Council.

We are a direct labour organisation (DLO) working directly for Coventry City Council , you will be working as part of a successful team responsible for the construction and routine maintenance of footways, carriageways and drainage, as well as the opportunity to work on high profile public realm schemes and major projects.

This role is key to ensuring the footways and carriageways throughout the City are maintained to a high standard. As part of a team the you will undertake all aspects of highway construction and maintenance. This includes the laying of bitumous materials, drainage installation, kerb laying, paving, pipe laying and other related activities to precise levels and tolerances.

Who are we looking for?

You will have:

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements when working on the Highway.
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Knowledge and safely able operate a variety of plant including heavy rollers, dumpers, compressors/Jack Hammers, Sthil saws, whacker plates etc.
  • Experience of working within Highway construction/maintenance.
  • Able to work within a team environment as well as under your own initiative.
  • Be motivated with good organisational, communicational and numeracy skills.
  • Able to confidently and politely deal with members of the public.
  • Willing to undertake training, when required.
  • Able to work in inclement weather.
