An opportunity is available for a Craftsperson (Jointing) based at our Grantham office.

In this role you will be required to undertake Jointing techniques up to 66kV, including excavation, cable laying, reinstatement and fault location on LV cables.

Candidates are required to have Grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level qualification in both subjects. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will ideally have underground experience. Consideration will be given to applicants who do not possess all the skills required to undertake the role at present but have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training.

If not already attained, the successful candidate will be required to study for the relevant City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering and complete TAR – which includes daily diary page completion, and a number of tasks and reports as required.

You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team, making on the spot decisions as required and working to tight deadlines. A flexible attitude is essential, as you will be required to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives. In addition, you will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake standby duties.
