We are looking for a diligent and skilled Maintenance Assistant to support our Corporate Team. This is a full-time, 12 month fixed term contract.

You should possess technical knowledge, practical skills, and the ability to assist in maintaining and repairing various aspects of our facilities. Working under the guidance of our Maintenance Officer, this role is crucial in ensuring that our buildings and facilities are maintained to high standards, offering a safe and optimal working environment for employees and service users.

This role will involve travelling to various locations across the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch area providing a hands-on approach to upkeep and repair tasks.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing basic repairs and general maintenance work on a variety of issues.
  • Contributing to the upkeep of exterior spaces, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Participating in a variety of installation, repair, and maintenance duties.
  • Accompanying and overseeing contractors and suppliers in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC tasks.
  • Adhering to all health and safety regulations and legislative requirements.
  • Logging work requests, supporting completion, and tracking purchases from external suppliers.
  • Supporting the handling and disposal of equipment and waste.
  • Participating in basic gardening, landscaping, and negotiation of work planning.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to assist with driving vehicles or as required.
  • Experience or qualifications in basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Capable of performing physical tasks including lifting and climbing.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Good communication skills, capable of following instructions effectively.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • IT literate with experience of using Microsoft products.

Working hours and conditions:

  • This position is full-time (37 hours per week), with typical working hours Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • The postholder may be required to work outside of standard hours in emergencies, with overtime paid as compensation.
  • A DBS check is required for this role.
