A respected company within the Wolverhampton area is looking for skilled Mechanical Fitters to join its team in a permanent capacity.

Role Purpose

As a Mechanical Fitter, you are responsible for fitting and assembly of mechanical components into sub-assemblies and final assembly builds in preparation for setting to work and functional testing of bespoke, process plant and equipment.
You will be required to follow a defined build process whilst also using your own skill and initiative to get the job done safely, on time and to the right quality level.
In a bespoke environment, you will need to demonstrate patience and be able to solve problems efficiently through team work and collaboration.
Communicate difficulties or issues with a build to others. Contribute to obtaining solutions.
You will ensure at all times that the manufacturing documentation is fully concurrent with the build to maintain traceability.


Day to Day Key Activities:

• Installation, fitting and stripping & correct application of bearings / keys / seals / bushes / sleeves / blocks / gears
• Installation, fitting and stripping and correct application of doweling / pegs / split pins / tab washers / wiring techniques & other positive location techniques
• Installation, fitting and stripping and correct application of seals, circlips & O-rings / dynamic & static
• Stamping / etching / stencilling / deburring
• Understanding, assembling and maintaining of mechanical drive systems
• Dismantling and strip down of sub assy, components and plant to required quality levels and standards
• Ability to take, record and process measurements as required to aid fitting procedures, or to aid other process.
• Reading understanding and interpreting engineering drawings
• Measuring and marking out to specified drawing dimensions, while understanding and working within tolerance bands.
• Understanding and interpreting schematic and process flow drawings
• Ability to use both had and power tools, including larger mag base, pedestal drills & grinders etc.
• Carrying out repairs and /or corrective action on assemblies as required

In addition the ability to carry out the following is beneficial:
• Perform on the job audits & shortage lists, non-conforming parts, build and design errors etc.
• Experience of Hydraulics and pneumatics (use of swagelok fittings etc.)
• Technical related tasks using computer - (locating and referencing drawings and model)

Qualifications

• Time-served, Accredited Apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent
• Be able to obtain SC clearance

Ability to or willing to learn:
• Basic slinging and signalling, Lifting experience
• Desirable skills: MEWP, PASMA, harness, forklift, scissor lift
