As our Depot Foreman you will be instrumental in the opening and running of our new Groundforce division, Non Mechanical Plant. This will be a new division focusing on non-mechanical plant operating out of our existing Wigan depot footprint.
This new role will initially focus on supporting with getting Groundforce Non Mechanical Plant set up and fully operational and be responsible for ensuring our customers receive equipment in good working order.
The Depot Foreman will be responsible for the depot hire and off-hire process and support the Driver in getting the deliveries out in a timely manner, along with performing any other roles to ensure a smoothly run depot. It is expected that the Depot Foreman will develop and grow strong internal GF relationships and work closely with the Non Mechanical Plant team to support and contribute in its growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- To efficiently manage and be responsible for Depot operations with the support from the wider team and General Manager.
- To develop and maintain effective relationships with VP Plc employees, specifically Groundforce and the wider divisions.
- To ensure optimum service levels are achieved and maintained.
- To be responsible for the full depot operational process and work closely with the Driver/Depot Operative.
- To maintain an awareness of cost control and have an understanding of cost control with an expectation that the role will develop into understanding the depots profit and loss.
- To maintain control over stock and assets within the depot.
- To ensure plant, vehicles and tools are compliant and in good working order with the support from the Depot team.
- To ensure the Depot is secure at all times.
- As the division grows to manage the recruitment of the Depot team in line with the Recruitment process with the support from the Recruitment team.
- To lead by example and display the behaviours and attitude in line with the Depot Forman level.
- Management of Minimum Quality Standards (MQS).
- Willing to review processes and ways of working to ensure that we are continuously improving our working practices to be as efficient as we can within the Depot.
- To be responsible for enforcing Health and Safety practices within the Depot and amongst the team members and visitors to site. Ensure as far as is reasonably practicable, a safe working environment for the team.

- Ability to maintain a well-organized depot, keeping accurate records and ensuring equipment is in proper order
- Ability to gather and analyse information that is relevant to depot operations
- Demonstrate clear communication both verbally and written
- Comfortable using PDA devices, iPads, tablets, etc
- Self-sufficient and proactive, as well as having good problem solving skills
- Full Driving Licence is essential for the role and a Fork Lift Truck license would be beneficial
