Calling all Teaching Assistants! Are you looking to gain more experience working within a school? Do you have experience working within a school or specifically working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? If so, this opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant might be for you.

Job description:

This role involves working as SEND Teaching Assistant and working closely with a group of children in the school’s SEN Hub. You would be supporting them throughout the day in their lessons, as well as keeping to their EHCP’s. The school is in the Wigan area and is looking for someone to work full time during the summer term.

Responsibilities as a SEND Teaching Assistant in this school would include:

Working closely with students in KS1 and KS2 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), who requires additional support throughout the day.
Liaising with the class teacher on the development of the student you are supporting and helping to plan and organise the lessons for the following day.
Insuring all children are safeguarded in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023.
Providing 1-1 support for the pupil who needs extra help with their learning.
Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements as a SEND Teaching Assistant in this school:

A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred, but not essential.
Experience of working as a SEND Teaching Assistant, in a school setting or working with children in a similar setting such as care, support work etc.

Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with special understanding of Autism and the appropriate strategies to support pupils with the particular needs.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a team with other Teaching Assistants and teaching staff.
