Grounds Maintenance

£28,000 per annum 

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Grounds Maintenance operative to join our friendly Estate and Facilities team. Primarily, this role will involve lawn care, cutting, weeding as well general grounds improvements to ensure our homes are of the highest quality for the children we care for.


    Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with a degree of flexibility required.

    Equipment: Van, equipment and workwear provided. 

    Annual Leave: You will receive 33 days per annum; our holiday year runs from March to February.

    Additional leave: at 2 years and 5 years’ service.

Your role and responsibilities as Grounds Maintenance

Working with A Wilderness Way offers the opportunity for you to truly make a difference to children’s lives. Our properties are children’s homes and creating safe comfortable environments is what this role is all about. 

We are ideally looking for someone with strong all-round grounds maintenance and general maintenance skills. Relevant qualifications are great, but practical experience in a similar role is more important. Experience in operating a variety of equipment including grounds maintenance plant and machinery, power tools and small hand tools is essential, with the ability to perform basic internal maintenance tasks.


Essential qualities that we look for: 

    Good all-round maintenance skills.  

    Is enthusiastic, tenacious and has a strong attention to detail.

    Comfortable using a variety of tools.

    Can trouble shoot, using one’s initiative.

    Happy to ‘roll their sleeves up’ and get stuck into helping with all aspects of our maintenance teams jobs and able to problem solve.

    Is an enthusiastic team player, but also comfortable working on their own.

    A full, valid, UK Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
