Teaching Assistant - Chorley

Nest Education are currently working with this mainstream primary school in Chorley to recruit a Teaching Assistants to support a child in Year 1 on a 1:1 basis. Candidates for this role will ideally have worked as a Teaching Assistant and have a Teaching Assistant level 1, 2 or 3 qualification although this is not essential, if you have worked as a Teaching Assistant or within the care and support sector, and have the knowledge and skills required to work in a challenging but rewarding environment.

Working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant in this role, you will be supporting the child's learning an development, and encouraging positive behaviours. The child is currently accessing some classroom based work at the moment, but due to challenges with regulating their emotions, they are being tutored outside of the classroom to build confidence and time spent in the classroom over a period of time.

The school are therefore looking for someone who is able to forge relationships easily and build trust and rapport, to develop the child's confidence and ability to regulate emotions and therefore integrate themselves back into the classroom as quickly as possible.

You will be responsible for:

· Assisting with the delivery learning plans and behavioural plan for the student in Year 1.
· Managing the behaviour of the child and working closely with the teacher to ensure that the child is safe and has a positive learning environment.
· Promoting student engagement for lessons and assisting with subjects taught.

The successful candidates must be able to commit on a long term basis until the end of summer term.
