Agile Hybrid Homeworking with office base in Norwich

Full time, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Starting Salary BHA B5 at £34,009 per annum, with future progression opportunities to £36,178 per annum, plus Essential Car User Allowance of £4,267 per annum

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Welfare Benefit Advisor to join our team.

The role requires a candidate to have an advanced understanding of welfare benefits and previous experience in assisting customers with the applications. The ideal candidate will be competent in administration and will think analytically and logically to help identify problems.

Some of the main duties of the role will be:

  • To carry out a needs and risk assessment with potential customers to identify their support needs.
  • To provide our customers with the best welfare benefits advice, maximising their income where possible, reducing arrears, and assist to improve general wellbeing.
  • To assist customers with benefits appeals processes, including attendance and representation at appeal and review hearings.
  • To carry out full financial assessment detailing income and expenditure, as well as identifying personal circumstances, in order to provide the most appropriate welfare benefits advice.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in relevant qualification
  • Relevant qualification in social work, Care, Substance Misuse, Housing, or other relevant area
  • Experience of Housing Management/Social Care/Enforcement or Community safety
  • An advanced understanding of welfare benefits system.
  • Proven experience of assisting welfare benefits appeals applications.

A full driving licence is also essential as the candidate may need to travel to other sites as required.

Successful candidates will be subject to a basic DBS check.
