HMP/YOI Peterborough is the country’s only purpose-built prison for both male and female prisoners (always kept separate), including a 12-place mother and baby unit. We are committed to offering education, skills and work as well as other development programmes to provide prisoners with the skills required to enter employment on release, so reducing the chances of further offending. Providing creative outlets, such as workshop activities, helps to equip those in custody for when they are released. We use ‘Restorative Approaches’ to bring people in conflict into dialogue. Using a skilled and structured process, those who have been harmed have an opportunity to be heard and those that have caused the harm are held to account for what they have done.
We are now looking to recruit a Deputy Director, working alongside the Director you will be part dynamic, diverse, and high performing leadership team and will be responsible for the effective day to day operation of the prison, as well as helping shape the strategic direction of the prison and more broadly within Sodexo Justice Services and Sodexo.
You will have accountability for our prison’s security leading on investigations and baseline audits so HMIP experience or a strong security background would be an advantage.
You will play a pivotal role in engagement and grow with our client whilst ensuring that we are consistently meeting and reviewing our contractual obligations and targets.
Managing a team of up to 4 senior operational managers you will be able to lead, influence and develop your team with rigour and credibility.

To be successful in this role you will;
- Have proven ability to manage change in a structured way
- Commercial and financial awareness
- Extensive prison operational management experience at senior management level (functional head or above), including incident management training/ experience.
