Financial Accountant

We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join the Finance department. In partnership with the finance teams and business areas, the successful applicant will work to improve profitability and cash through the execution of effective financial control. Provide initiatives to maximise operational efficiencies and gain revenue growth. They will also provide financial compliance, financial risk management and financial controls across the business and assist the Compliance team in all matters of taxation, statutory reporting, financial reporting, and financial controls and completion of the half year and full year statutory reporting for MSC UK Group and any associated MSC entities.

How you will help us and what you can expect

• Complete account reconciliations, review and clear balance sheet control accounts on a monthly basis maintaining appropriate documentation to support audits.
• Work with the Compliance Accountant Manager to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial records.
• Contribute to group-wide finance projects.
• Assist with the monthly Group reporting process ensuring all elements are completed in the consolidation tool.
• Interpret and cascade financial accounting/reporting policies, standards, procedures, timetables and the requirements to the financial teams.
• Assist in preparing the local Groups Companies financial statements that reflect the financial position, including the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement.
• Support the Financial teams with analysis and interpretation of financial information.
• Review accounting papers on technical accounting issues, including industry specific themes, considering different options and approaches.
• Monitor the company’s financial transactions, including sales and expenses, to ensure they are accurate.
• Conduct audits to ensure that a company's financial records are accurate and comply with applicable regulations.
• Prepare and file tax returns for MSC UK GroupAlways endeavour to help colleagues across the business, making themselves accessible to the team and wider business.
• Solutions led approach, ensuring correct working practices are followed
• To work confidently with Microsoft Excel
• Liaising with Customer’s via email, conference and telephone calls
