The role is delivery based and provides a great platform to learn the essential skills to delivery high quality active childcare, within in a company with over 20 year experience in the sector.

The playwork apprentice will support the delivery of breakfast and after school clubs on a daily basis while utilising time out of delivery to complete their apprenticeship and make positive improvements to their site. Playwork apprentices will also deliver a holiday club during the school holidays.

This is a 16 month, delivery-based role that may require travel and occasional visits to the Support Centre in Berkshire.

Key Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Activity Design- Plan and deliver an engaging programme of activities for all SCL services incorporating the Fun, Learn, Move value proposition.
  • Administration – Support to ensure all key administration tasks are completed in line with SCL safeguarding policies and procedures including registers, food/equipment orders & club paperwork.
  • OFSTED & Compliance – Ensure all mandatory training is completed for all staff in your team and support the site team so the club adheres to child to staff ratios outlined by OFSTED.
  • Customer Service/Partnerships – Embrace the SCL Values of Active childcare, through our active, welcome, communication and reward strategy.
  • Delivery – Ensure that the activities on site reflect the “Active Experience” outlined in SCL Active mission statement. Encourage positive behaviour by promoting the “Active Reward” scheme during all SCL services.  
  • Marketing & Promotion - Work with site team to promote clubs and local activity to drive attendance at all services.
  • Apprenticeship – Attendance at all scheduled workshops, meet deadlines for assignments and off the job hours completion.

Offers are subject a knowledge, skills and behaviour assessment to ensure eligibility for the level 2 playwork apprenticeship.
